At The Business Creative we love working with our theme park clients – working to create some incredible experiences that entertain and delight – what’s not to love? That’s why we decided to sponsor the inaugural live ‘UK Theme Park Awards’.

Hosted at Drayton Manor Resort, the first live version of the awards by ThemeParks UK in association with Attraction Tickets.com, celebrated the achievements of theme parks and those content creators that are incredibly important to the industry.

The room was filled with the ‘who’s who’ of the theme park industry – with representatives from all of the UK parks. The start of the day allowed a lot of networking and getting to know one another. I have always been a fan of networking events. I love meeting new people, sharing ideas and forming great working relationships, so being able to do that with like-minded producers and theme parks was a great start to the day.

Following the introduction, the awards came thick and fast with Sik at Flamingo Land Resort bagging ‘Best New Attraction’ and Drayton Manor Resort ‘Best Value Theme Park’, both huge accolades to earn.

The Business Creative had the pleasure of presenting the ‘Best Halloween Event’ category, a category close to my heart. Having worked in the Halloween and scare maze industry for over 16 years, to be able to congratulate and award others who are succeeding in the field was a very humbling experience. The winner of the category was Alton Towers Resort with their Scarefest event – certainly a deserved accolade.

Being at events like this puts a huge context to why we do what we do – working in a fun environment with people who want to create a fun environment. It’s so important to join together at these moments to not only celebrate the achievements of others, but to reflect on what is it we do and why we do it.

Of course, theme parks are businesses – they must make decisions that may be unpopular, but at the heart of it, they’re there for a sense of escapism and pulling you out of the normal environment and into a fictitious world of entertainment.

To be in the same room as others production world-class entertainment is something I want to do more of. it’s a great feeling that I recommend to everyone.

The awards ceremony culminated with a tour of the new for 2022 themed area ‘Vikings’ in Drayton Manor Park. This impressive space hosts four attractions, themed food and beverage, and beautiful landscaping. Hearing from the team the premise of designing and a hint at what’s to come.

We would like to thank the team at ThemeParks UK and Drayton Manor Resort for a fantastic awards ceremony and hospitable stay. If you have the option to visit the awards in 2023, make sure you take it up … you’ll see us there!
