The Brief: To improve the customer experience for families. Make Birmingham airport the number one ‘airport of choice’ for families. Create a ‘world’s first’ concept (not simply a traditional children’s play area).

Fully themed concept for families with children using the airport.

The Solution:

The Business Creative developed an interactive family concept touching all stages of the customer journey (check in, security, departure lounge, gates). The concept has a strong brand identity with two fully integrated mascot characters. It challenges the traditional footfall of families, driving them into specific retail units (ensuring a commercial focus). 

The concept successfully distracts children from feeling they are queuing and assists with preparing them for security. 

The concept is modular and is applied throughout the airport. We created two uniquely interactive-themed play zones that are designed for children to expend energy whilst having fun, before they board the plane. 

We have also integrated a totally unique augmented reality concept to deliver themed kids games, challenges and cartoons via passengers’ own devices.
