It’s that time of year to reflect and look back at memories made during the last 12 months. There are a few moments to mention but one big highlight for me was joining The Business Creative as Creative Assistant!
My secretarial background is in the legal and medical sectors, and I’ve been doing that kind of work for well over 30 years now (eek!). It was time to try something new, so I used my skillset to set up as a freelance PA about eight years ago and joined a few job platforms to get me started. A few years back, I was contacted on one of those platforms by Jane, Director at The Business Creative. Jane needed some admin help and asked if it was okay to ring me to chat through the job – we hit it off immediately! We worked closely together on that project which was a huge success. I was so pleased when Jane contacted me again with more work and I later met the team. It wasn’t long before I was doing regular tasks and I found myself heading off in a completely different and more creative direction, which was so exciting! It was like a whole new world of immersive experiences, storytelling, creative concepts coming from the most imaginative minds, and it opened up endless new possibilities for me.
It was at that moment I realised it was time for a new challenge, and working for The Business Creative had stirred up my creative flow. In April this year I joined The Business Creative as a fully-fledged team member. I was made up!
Every day is different, and I love it. We all work remotely. We’re based all over the country, but we make it a priority to get together virtually every day to touch base, catch up, and plan our workload as a team. We also make sure to build online social time into our weekly calendars where we can have a natter and a laugh, share top TV tips and weekend plans, or just a quick hello to ask how are you doing can be a real tonic when you’re working from home.
Even though we’re not sat together in an office, I still feel part of a solid and supportive company. Feeling valued and connected is so important and I absolutely love my role looking after the very talented, funny, and wonderful team at The Business Creative. This year, we’re having a face-to-face get together for a Christmas do in London – my first do for so long and I’m really looking forward to it. Ho-ho-ho! Happy Christmas 🎄 Stay warm and stay well.
