Tell us a bit about your career to date
It all started when I was 16. I was a performer in a Halloween experience at Croxteth Hall, a beautiful stately home in Liverpool. I had always been a fan of theme parks and live entertainment and when the opportunity came around to get involved, I couldn’t resist! Since that point, I grew within that business to become the Deputy Creative Director – we produced award-winning Halloween experiences and scare mazes across Europe, including some permanent installations which are still running to this day! After around 10 years of horror, I needed a change in direction and became the events manager of Knowsley Safari, a wildlife park in Liverpool, working with the visitor and animal teams to produce some incredible footfall-driving and educational events. An opportunity came around to be involved with the running of a theme park for the season, and as I’ve mentioned, I LOVE theme parks. In early 2019, I moved down to Margate in Kent for the season to become the Experience Manager of the park, looking after the admissions, customer service, seasonal events, entertainment and back of house – it was a huge step in my career and I absolutely loved it. We all sadly know what happened next… the pandemic hit! The entertainment industry ceased to exist and theme parks were shut – I changed industries and became the Operations Manager of a manufacturing business specialising in liquid products. A career change I never thought would happen, but it helped me to grow as a person and the project management knowledge I learned was a huge benefit to me. The beginning of 2022 came around and the option to join the wonderful team at The Business Creative came around, putting me back into the very heart of the industry I love – and here we are!

Do you have a favourite quote?
Laughter is timeless. Imagination has no age. Dreams are forever. (Walt Disney)
I think this resonates too much with me because a) I’m a huge Disney fan and b) It’s so true. The power of creating emotional responses within people is astounding. We all create events, entertainment and experiences to generate emotional response and memories – it’s incredibly rewarding.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
Being able to make anyone happy. The world can be full of negativity and bitterness – imagine a world with eternal happiness. Everyone loving one another, being there in the moment to share incredible times and have no motivated responses. That’s a world I want to live in!
About your role:
What’s your role at The Business Creative and what does a typical day look like?
Each day is completely different. My role as Creative Operations Manager covers so many bases, from research and development of new productions to business development and building relationships with new clients and suppliers, right the way through to producing high-end proposal documentation and conceptual artwork to wow our clients! I think that’s why I love my role and what I do – no two days are ever the same and that level of excitement keeps my brain firing!
What drew you to The Business Creative?
My decision to join the team revolved around two key factors; the team, and the clients. The team are powerhouses in their fields and some of the kindest and nicest people I’ve had the fortune to work with. And then we come onto our clients. One day I will be working with a local SME, theme park, wildlife park or campsite, and the next I’ll be working with a significant cultural centre in the EMEA region. The variety of projects and clients we work with is vast and that keeps my creative output at its very best.
What part of your job gives you the biggest buzz?
I love the creative conceptual stages of any project – where we all sit around a table (or over Teams!) and discuss potential ideas for each project. We’re all born storytellers, and being able to pull together a powerful storyline, killer graphics and an intricate deck to send to the client – and then receive amazing feedback, is something I love doing!
