We’re absolutely thrilled that Karen Forrest (Kaz) joined The Business Creative full-time in April this year, as Creative Admin Support. We thought we’d ask her a few questions so you can get to know her a little better and discover some of her hidden talents!
Tell us a bit about your career to date
I started out as a deckhand working on glass bottom boats in Bermuda where I lived with my dad. I love being by the sea and this job is a treasured memory – and is also where I learned to make a Rum Swizzle! I later went on to study secretarial skills at Bermuda College and from that point have worked as a PA in the legal and medical sectors. I set up my own virtual assistant business eight years ago and built up a regular client base of varied roles.

Do you have a favourite quote?
There’s no place like home.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
To time travel and revisit life events and places and explore my family tree.
About your role:
What’s your role at The Business Creative and what does a typical day look like?
I provide admin support to the whole team and keep the organisation flowing. A typical day for me is to check the diary and see what everybody is up to. Daily check-in is at 10:00am where we discuss the day ahead. Then I’ll move on to my task list and get on with whatever is going on at that time which could be research-related, proofreading content, keeping an eye on project deadlines, that kind of thing.
What drew to you The Business Creative?
As a freelancer, I met The Business Creative when they needed some admin assistance. We crossed paths on one of the freelancer platforms and got on straightaway. I love working with the team and feeling connected.
When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your time?
I like to do a variety of things which I believe “keeps your show on the road” as a relative of mine liked to say. I enjoy relaxing things such as painting, knitting, writing and regular walks when I have my best thinking time. I also like to run and generally keep active.
