In August, I went to Rewind South with some friends. This festival is located at Temple Island Meadows near Henley-on-Thames and is one of three festivals located in the UK.

I didn’t think I was a festival goer, but I love the ‘80s, and this event is a lively celebration of pop music from that era. Also, this is the year of trying new things and even the train strike and re-route across London didn’t stop me!

Our Airbnb host delivered us in style by boat with a slight detour to show us this beautiful location. As we went up the River Thames and back, the sun shone, there were lots of people dressed up in various neon and 80s creations, and the atmosphere was electric!

We went on Saturday, and the line-up of iconic ‘80s pop bands that day included UB40, ABC, Nik Kershaw, The Undertones, DJ Martin Kemp, and Nick Heyward – what a fantastic day! There was a brilliant party atmosphere and this was a treat of a trip down a musical memory lane. Everyone was so friendly and we had such a laugh.

The festival is well put together. As well as the main stage, there is the Pink Flamingo Club, a silent disco and an inflatable church. The Electro Picture Lounge was where you could chill out and watch some classic ‘80s music videos and films.

I’m so happy to see the music of the ‘80s continue to be celebrated. What a way to bring people together, sing some well-loved songs, dance until dark, make brilliant memories, and have FUN!
