January and February are always considered quite dull months in the year in terms of events and occasions, however, for those of you lucky to be in love there’s always Valentine’s Day to add a little bit of sparkle to this otherwise cold and miserable time of year.
Being single (applications on a postcard please) I have not been actively looking for Valentine’s Day ideas. However, I did stumble across a couple of unique and creative experiences that seem to be on offer, reinforcing the point that the events calendar throughout the year is hugely influential in the events and experiences market. It’s also interesting to see how events and experiences that are happening anyway can be tailored to a specific calendar event.
Of course, there are all the usual suspects: rooftop romantic dinners, pampering sessions at the spa, fluffy gifts of flowers and champagne, but who wants that when you can experience an adrenaline fuelled lovers leap! Yes, the clue is in the title. You and your lover will leap off a 160 foot structure in a tandem bungee jump! Perfect for couples who are a bit more adventurous and the bungee jump includes a much welcome bottle of champagne to share after the jump!
Or if your other half tends to get on your nerves or can be a little bit annoying at times, how about a rage room experience for two? This is the perfect opportunity to let out those frustrations with them. If you’re not familiar with a rage room, this is a fairly new experience phenomena where you’ll get kitted out in protective gear before you spend 30 minutes locked in a room obliterating objects like TVs, glass bottles, crockery, printers, and much more in any way that you choose. Just try not to beat the hell out of each other!
Or how about spending the night ball deep (sounds like my kind of night!). Whether you’re living your best single life, entangled, or just going with the flow, Ballie Ballerson in London is a cocktail bar with one million balls – what more could you need! They have two giant ball pits which will take you right back to your childhood, and their signature glow ball pit is housed in a huge mirrored cage pulsing with the coolest coloured lights for a stunning Instagram backdrop.
Valentine’s Day falls on a Tuesday this year and could offer a welcome mid-week boost for the events and hospitality industries, so why not try to be a little creative and do something different.
And if you’re single, in the words of RuPaul, “If you can’t love yourself how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else! Can I get an amen in here!”
Now back to Tinder! – Happy Valentine’s!
