We recently had the immense privilege of embarking on a working visit to Bangkok, the bustling heart of Thailand, and we were there with a mission; to grasp the changing behaviours and anticipate the evolving expectations in retail spaces. Our objective was twofold – cement our relationships with new clients and immerse ourselves in the vibrant tapestry of Thai culture.
Our trip’s primary objective was to meet with our new clients. We had invigorating discussions on the future landscape of retail, reflecting on the need to think in a ‘destinational’ mindset, and master planning with a vision that’s experiential, not transactional. With its diverse retail mix from street stalls to luxury malls, Bangkok is the perfect backdrop to these conversations. The dynamism and flexibility of the local markets provide a treasure trove of insights and together with our clients, we are eager to craft experiential strategies that are not only innovative but also deeply resonate with their consumers.

Beyond our corporate engagements, we also had the pleasure of soaking up some of the city’s renowned experiences. A standout was our dinner at the exquisite Sathon Mansion, the former Russian Embassy building. Underneath its regal chandeliers and amidst its lavish decor, we indulged in an array of Thai dishes that tantalised our palates. The flavours were rich and diverse, and told a story of a nation’s culinary journey. It’s no wonder that meals often become the highlight of any trip to Thailand!

Our adventures in Bangkok reached new heights – quite literally – at the Mahanakhon SkyWalk. As we ascended the tower Bangkok sprawled beneath us, a canvas of urban life. The SkyWalk, Thailand’s highest observation deck, gave us a bird’s eye view of the city. With the glass floor beneath our feet, we felt the exhilarating thrill of being suspended 78 stories high. It’s a vivid reminder of how traditional Bangkok has embraced the modern world, stretching its boundaries in every direction (though it did take me several minutes before I was able to actually step onto the glass!)
This was my first visit to Thailand and I can honestly say that I am already addicted to its magnetic charm and innovative spirit. The trip reinforced our belief that the future of retail is not just about transactions but experiences. The city beautifully blends its rich history with forward-thinking innovation, something that is a driving force for us at The Business Creative.
As we bid farewell to the city of angels (Krung Thep), we do so with a heart full of gratitude and an unwavering vision for the future. Bangkok, we’ll be back soon, and until then, we carry with us the spark of your energy, pushing us to redefine the future of retail.
