Hello!
My name is Stella Price, and I have just joined The Business Creative’s Team! I live in Brighton but I recently graduated from Arts University Bournemouth where I studied Creative Events Management. I picked the course with no idea about what I wanted to do when I finished, to be honest – I’ve always just followed my gut and chased after things that inspire and excite me.
After doing the course for 3 years, I really found a love for marketing (mainly relating to social media – and brand identity), BUT I also loved all things to do with creating experiences that are valuable and that create an emotion within people – whether that be joy and happiness or on the other side I have worked on evoking other emotions – such as when working with charities, creating an experience that really gets people angry – and pushes to promote change in peoples behaviour.
Emotions are so powerful and can be created for so many different reasons – which I think is just really amazing.
I left uni with these broad passions and no clue what direction to go in – but that’s when I discovered The Business Creative, where we work towards creating emotion, moments and long-lasting memories. My current role within the team is Marketing and Production support – when I saw this job title I knew this was the role for me – as it meant I would be able to continue to pursue both of the different areas that I find interesting!
Kickstart Scheme
Leaving university is really daunting, and no one really warns you about it. For years you have guidance and support with every element of your life – and then you finish and have to find a job, on your own and most people (myself included) haven’t figured out what it is they want to do yet.
I decided to get myself onto universal credit – which a lot of graduates don’t do because it has a bit of a stigma. But the kickstart scheme enabled me to be able to comfortably look for a job that fitted my personal aims and qualifications, go to interviews and even reject jobs that didn’t suit and not have to worry too much about finances and being able to survive, which is something that a lot of graduates don’t get to do.
Training and Working Conditions
The whole team at The Business Creative and everyone I’ve worked with both internally and externally have given me so much support. We all work from home, which is something that I thought I could potentially struggle with, but every task has been explained so clearly, I am regularly checked up on, I know that any member of the team is happy to chat at any point. Not only that, but I am always doing some form of training to develop a wide variety of skills, such as website editing, using socials in a more strategic way, I’ve even been involved in helping to produce a radio show on Travel Radio (Wish You Were Queer)!
On my first week, the team took me to Hijingo, an immersive Bingo concept in London – as it is important to get out there and see what concepts are going on in the world and experience them first hand, it was a lot of fun and we had such a great time.
The team ensure we have regular in-person meetings, which is so helpful when working within a creative industry, and Jane and I go for regular coffees to chat about my progress, which is just amazing.
Everyone within the team are just wonderful, and I am so grateful to everyone at The Business Creative that have made me feel so welcome.
I am really excited for the future, the team have worked on some really exciting concepts with such a diverse range of clients and I’m just happy to be a part of the process – who knows what we will be working on, even in a few months time, that’s what I really enjoy.
